Zavodnick, Zavodnick & Lasky, LLC
In order to participate, applicants must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited United States college or university in the near future and should write a 500-word essay responding to the following question: The workers’ compensation program exists to ensure that people who develop work-related illnesses or are injured on the job receive compensation. It is a no-fault system, meaning that workers generally receive benefits regardless of who caused the accident. In return for this security, workers are generally barred from suing their employers for negligence resulting in illness or injury. There are some exceptions to this rule, however, and there are some circumstances in which an employee may sue his or her employer. In your personal opinion, what circumstances would warrant such a lawsuit, and why? Responses will be evaluated based upon the following criteria:
The quality of the writing
The thoughtfulness of the response
The applicant’s demonstrated potential for success in their chosen field of study
Once the application period is closed, the submissions will be reviewed by the firm and a winner will be chosen based on the criteria listed above. The winner will be notified by email on or around 12/15/2015.
