Nickell Regional History

The Nickell Regional History was established in honor of Dr. Frank Nickell who served as a professor of history and Director of the Center for Regional History at Southeast Missouri State University since 1990. Dr. Nickell received his undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico. In his time at the University, he served as Bursar of the University, Chairman of the Department of History, and Director of the Center for Regional History. He was the recipient of a number of awards at the University, including the Faculty Merit Award, the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the Missouri Humanities Council Distinguished Service Award.
