Lea Abernathy

This scholarship was established by Lea Abernathy, a 1935 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. Ms. Abernathy was a retired high school English teacher and social worker. She won several awards for fiction and poetry throughout her life. Ms. Abernathy’s purpose for this award was to enrich religious thought through the discipline of literature.
