Joseph and Viola Needy

J. Wayne Needy established this scholarship in honor of his father, Joseph William Needy, who never had the opportunity to attend high school or college, but always believed strongly in the value of an education. J. Wayne was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, and received his Master of Science degree in 1964 from SIU. He taught physics for 31 years at the Minnesota State Community College System in Fergus Falls, Minnesota and retired in 1995. He spends most of his time backpacking in Minnesota and Wyoming.
