Frances Brady Wall

Mrs. Frances Brady Wall was born in 1902, graduated from DeSoto, Missouri High School 1921, and then obtained a teaching certificate from Southeast Missouri State University. She began her teaching career in a small, one-room schoolhouse located in Fertile, Missouri near Washington State Park. Mrs. Wall was widowed at the age of 44 with four children. She enhanced her children’s education by utilizing a black board in the kitchen, and continued class around the dining room table. Many teachers from the DeSoto School System rented rooms at Mrs. Wall’s home. She thrived on discussing the teaching profession and school system issues with these individuals.
