Dr. John Harty

This scholarship was established by Dr. John Harty, class of 1919, who was a professor of physics at the University from 1936 to 1946. Dr. Harty also taught at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He and his wife, the former Bess Cashion, were acclaimed ‘Mr. and Mrs. Science Fair’ of New Mexico when he retired in 1958 from teaching. Dr. Harty received the 1964 Alumni Merit Award at Southeast Missouri State University.
