Dr. Daniel MacLeay

The Dr. Daniel MacLeay Endowed Foreign Language & Anthropology Research Award was established in 2002 by Mrs. Brigitte Bollerslev; its goal is to support foreign language and anthropology majors and department faculty/staff in research or professional development activities. The award may be used by students and faculty/staff for summer research projects or for one (or more) course(s) released during the regular academic year to have additional time for scholarly research, e.g., to complete a manuscript or to prepare a conference paper. The award may also be used for travel relating to Department international programs.

The award is named in honor of Dr. Daniel MacLeay who retired from the faculty after 27 years of exemplary service to the Department of Modern Languages, Anthropology and Geography as a professor of French language, culture and literature. The scholarship was donated by Mrs. Brigitte Bollerslev who was born in Munich, Germany, and knows from her own experience the importance of foreign language and culture studies and the value of research-related activities for faculty and students.
