Dick & Mary Gettinger

Dick Gettinger attended Southeast Missouri State University from 1958 until 1962. He graduated in 1963. His initial job was with Monsanto in St. Louis. After five years at Monsanto, he received a job offer to join Ralston Purina as Manager of the Corporate Accounting staff. Gettinger spent 18 years with Ralston Purina, and his last position was as Controller of the Produce Products Division. In April of 1983, he was recruited to join Sunmark, Inc., a privately owned company, as Senior Vice President and Controller. Sunmark was based in St. Louis and was famous for its sweet-tart candy. After three years with the company, the ownership elected to sell the business to Nestle. After the sale to Nestle, Gettinger took a position with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals as Vice President of International Finance and Administration for the Medical Products Division. He retired from this position in 1998 and has been on the Board of two homeowners’ associations. He and wife Mary enjoy playing golf and bridge, boating, and traveling. The Gettingers have been married since May of 1963 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have three children and nine grandchildren.
